B.K.S. Iyengar

Yoga means union. Yoga is physical, mental and spiritual. Yoga works on each individual for his or her growth and betterment, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Yoga gets the physical body in line with the mental body, the mental body with the intellectual body, and the intellectual body with the spiritual body, so they are balanced.

By persistent and sustained practice, anyone and everyone can make the yoga journey and reach the goal of illumination and freedom.

Yoga unites the body with the energy of the soul. It has physical and therapeutic benefits.

There is a difference between happiness and delight. Happiness is at the mind level. Delight is beyond the mind. Happiness is sensual happiness. But delight is spiritual happiness.

There is a tremendous balance to be achieved between the philosophical life and the practical life.

Yoga helps keep the body as a temple and cleans the soul. Yoga is more than physical. It is cellular, mental, intellecutual and spiritual--it involves man in his entire being. The ultimate goal of yoga is to realize the ultimate brilliance of your soul.

There needs to be balance between the philosophical life and the practical life. You need practically philosophy.

Without discipline we can not be free.

Moderation is essential in living. Healthy living is religious. We need to harmonise our lives. You need to balance your life. Individual growth is a must, and yoga develops each individual.

Health is religoius. Ill-health is irreligious.

Religious life is not to withdraw from the everyday world. On the contrary, we have to harmonise our lives.

Without discipline we cannot become free, nor can there be freedome in the world without discipline. Discipline alone brings true freedom.

Individual growth is a must and yoga develops each individual.

It is not a matter of acquiring wealth, but of earning one's living to maintain the body in good health and the mind free from worries.

Yoga should give us cause for tolerance and compassion.

Greed, violence, sloth, excess, pride, lust, and fear wreck our happiness.
