What is Stress
Stress can be defined by the responses we make to the stimuli around us. In defining stress, it is a nonspecific unique response of the body from any stimuli or demand made upon it. The demand or stimuli is labeled the stressor and the response to the stimuli is stress. There are three basic responses the stressors which are: positive (eustress) , negative (distress) or neutral (neustress). Anxiety is produced when events and responsibilities exceed one’s coping abilities. Stress is the inability to cope with a perceived or real (or imagined) threat to one’s mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, which results in a series of physiological responses and adaptation.
