History of Diamonds

The word diamond comes from the Old French word ‘diamant’ which come from the Medieval Latin word ‘diamas’ which is a modification of the Latin word ‘admas’ meaning invincible or indomitable. The word itself comes from a Greek word ‘adamao’ which means ‘I tame’ or ‘I subdue’, the word ‘adamas’ being used to describe any hard substances.

Diamonds were used in ancient times for their magical powers (talisman) or a tool for shaping or engraving hard materials.

Historically, diamonds were mined by secondary deposits and with the development of newer mining technologies, diamonds are able to be recovered at their primary source underneath surface and in the diamond pipes.
